PODCAST EP:4 “Overcoming Fear & Perfection”
An Olympian came forward recently and said her Coach would tell her...
“You're going to feel good a third of the time, okay a third of the time, and crappy the other third.”
It's time that instead of saying we effed something up, and we're horrible at our job, and we should just quit... let's look at those crappy moments as learning lessons. Because unfortunately, they are INEVITABLE. The best thing we can do is simply learn from those experiences and grow from there.
The biggest issue? The perfectionists. (Hey I'm guilty here as well) You are SO focused on everything being PERFECT, that you don't even allow yourself the opportunity to mess something up. And you know what happens then? You make no progress and you stay stagnant.
You must give up on the idea that if something isn't "perfect" it isn't worth doing. Be real with me, when is the last time you nailed something on the first try? Probably never. I know I never have!
Be a QUICK START.
YES, put time and attention into something.
YES, make sure that you aren't putting out half-assed programs.
YES, make sure you have a product that you stand by and WILL do what is advertised.
YES, make sure you have a plan.
AND THEN RELEASE.
Post that photo. Make that YouTube video. Release that program, and then course correct along the way.
Otherwise, you will spend a lot of time "fixing" things that may have actually worked! Now you're focusing on all the wrong shit.
And seriously, if something is so far out of your wheelhouse that you KNOW you don't have the capacity, time, or energy to do it. HIRE. IT. OUT 😂 There is nothing wrong with that (lord knows I hire a lot of shit out!)
It's okay to be afraid. It's okay to be nervous. What you don't want to do is allow the panic to overcome you and make you freeze.
Potential without action is meaningless.
Don't let your potential go to waste. Just get started.
